One thing that stood out to me was the example of faith set by the Roman Officer in vs 5-13. Jesus says that people like this man would sit down at feast table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob but the natural decendants of Abraham would miss out. As I read this I remembered how for the Jews to sit down and share the dinner table with a Gentile would have been seen as unsavory. We have the example about how Peter broke table fellowship with some Gentiles in Antioch after being pressured by Jews from Judea.

So Jesus is making a shocking comment - People of the nations would proceed to sit down and dine with their forefather Abraham while they themselves would be the ones shut out and shunned.
